WHAT EVER YOU NEED, GOD'S GOT IT!
- Key Verse
- Is it easier to say ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or ‘Stand up and walk’?(Matthew 9:5, NLT)
READ THE CHAPTER
Central Truth
Scripture makes clear that Jesus had been given full authority to forgive our sins and deliver us from our circumstances. However, man often requires a visual sign or other confirmation. The people were healed by their belief and trust in God.
Reflections
This verse has great meaning to me. God has forgiven my sins and brought peace, which I thought would never come. Over the past two years, I have observed a significant physical and mental deterioration in my parents. They missed medical appointments, left bills unpaid and did not take their medication as prescribed. I took a leave of absence from work to handle these matters. Initially, my parents were appreciative; however, they soon began to resent my help. Despite this, I visited them often and tried to convince them to move closer to me or hire someone. They refused both options. Their health deteriorated and dementia became apparent. Eventually, I placed them in an assisted living facility. It's difficult being the only child. My life was turned upside down. My parents were agitated, belligerent, and sometimes verbally abusive. They called me at work and at home several times a day and into the night. The doctors explained things to them, but they would forget the conversations. Family members and friends agreed that I was doing the right thing, but I became very distressed. My parents were not adjusting, as they attempted to leave the facility without success. They threatened me with harsh words and awful accusations. As a result, I became overwhelmed and depressed. The stress of work, family obligations and caring for them was overwhelming.
My parents have been at the facility for a year and 2 months. Through this experience, God has been faithful. At times, my attitude and lack of patience was not pleasing to Him. However, He has the power to forgive and deliver me. I received patience and forgiveness. God was able to heal my physical and emotional wounds. The guilt, and sadness that led me to depression is gone. God said, "trust me," and I experienced peace not anger. Their anger has diminished as they continue to adjust. God orchestrated the entire process. It's amazing! Today, my parents are healthier, stronger and safe, though not fully adjusted. I will continue to trust God in all things.

I'm sorry to hear about your parents. I am a care giver of a special needs child. I don't know if you remember meeting her. Always do what's in your heart. Don't let anyone tell you what's right or wrong. You did the right thing. When the days are rough I always ask God to order my steps. I know I can't do this walk alone.
