DOWN AT THE CAR WASH
- Key Verse
- When Jesus heard them, He stopped and called, “What do you want me to do for you?” “Lord,” they said, “we want to see!” Jesus felt sorry for them and touched their eyes. Instantly they could see! Then they followed Him. (Matthew 20:32-34, NLT)

Central Truth
Jesus wasn't afraid to touch people and meet their needs. He wasn't distant. He was willing touch those in need and He still is today.
Reflections
In the colder months I like to take my car through an automatic carwash. I used to take it through one of those carwashes that had the giant spinning rollers with hundreds of rag like pieces of material attached to it. The rollers would move along my car and get it nice and clean while I sat and giggled in the safety my driver's seat.
Over the years most of those older type carwashes have been replaced by “touchless” carwashes. They go by fancy names like “Laser Wash” and “Super Duper Power Wash.” Instead of rollers that brush the dirt away, these new types of carwashes depend on high-pressure water to blast away dirt and grime. I took my car through one of these high tech touchless car washes recently. After a quick inspection of my car all I could think was, “I just wasted nine bucks!” This touchless carwash only managed to remove the big particles, but left a film of dirt all over my car. So while the high-pressure touchless car wash put on a nice show, there is nothing that can replace actually touching the car to wash it. That’s how you remove dirt best, by hand…by touch.
Jesus didn’t use “touchless” methods when He was here. He touched the leper, literally. He touched the blind, literally. Jesus knew that the most effective way to convey love and to heal was through touch. He could have been distant and mankind would have never known what it was like to be touched by God. But He was close and He touched. His touch was, and still is, most effective in removing the dirt of our lives to reveal a beautiful shine.
Discussion Questions
1. What's an area of your life that Jesus needs to touch today?2. What did the blind men do before Jesus touched them? How does that apply to you?
3. Is there anyone in your life that you can "touch" for Jesus this week?
:: Take a few minutes today to be totally honest with Jesus and ask Him to touch your life in the "not so clean" areas.
:: Ask Him to show you how you can "touch" the life of someone around you this week.
