Central Truth

When something good happens in our lives, we go tell others the good news. We rush to share the news of the newborn child or grandchild, the graduate, a new job or promotion. On the other side, we are sometimes guilty of spreading bad news and possibly gossip.

Reflections

Mark 5:1-20 tells the story of a man who was possessed by thousands of demons.  Jesus came along and the demon possessed man begged Jesus not to send the demons out of the area. So Jesus drove the demons out of the man and into a herd of pigs…about 2,000 pigs. The pigs then rushed to a nearby lake and drowned. After this, the man wanted to go with Jesus. But Jesus told him to go and tell how much the Lord has done for him. So he did and all the people were amazed.

Be enthusiastic about sharing the Good News with those around you. Just as we would tell others about the birth of a child, a job promotion or a good bargain at the local store we should tell about Christ who cures our sin. When we go through life’s trials, it is our faith in Jesus Christ that has us persevering through those trials. These life experiences are our testimonies.

Discussion Questions

1. Should we be sharing those testimonies with others?

2. Isn’t it every Christian’s responsibility to draw everyone to Christ by words and/or example?

3. After all, if Jesus Christ is the One who pulls us through our trials, shouldn’t we give Him all the praise and all the glory?

Maybe we were chosen to go through the trials we have experienced for this very reason…for witnessing to others.

Today let’s take it a step further. Ask Jesus to reveal to you someone you can witness to...someone you can relate to. He knows who it is and He can work His perfection in you for His purpose!
