PUTTING YOUR "NOT ENOUGH" IN THE HANDS OF JESUS

Key Verse

Central Truth

Have you ever wondered how to overcome lack in your life?  The key lies in a simple biblical principle.  If you want to see abundance in your life you have to put your "not enough" into the hands of Jesus.  His hands are anointed to multiply whatever you give Him.

Reflections

Everyone of us experiences lack at one time or another.  This lack could be financial, relational, emotional, physical or even spiritual.  When faced with these deficiencies, the first thing we need to do is shut out the voice of fear that tries to pervade our thoughts.  "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind." (2Timothy 1:7) Fear comes from listening to the voice of the enemy, faith from the voice of God.

Regain your peace by looking in God's word for your answer.  In the passage, Mark 8:1-10, the disciples were faced with insufficiency.  Four thousand needed to be fed with only seven loaves and a few small fish available.  Even though the disciples had already seen Jesus perform countless miracles, including the previous feeding of the 5,000, they answered Him in verse 4 by saying, "How are we supposed to find enough food to feed them out here in the wilderness?"

Can you believe the initial response of the disciples? They had witnessed Jesus' miraculous ability over and over again.  We know Jesus performed many more miracles than are even recorded in the Bible.  He had already proved that nothing was too difficult for Him and yet they needed to ask this question.  Not only did Jesus provide enough to satisfy everyone, there were seven basketfuls leftover! Isn't that just like us too?  Time after time, the Lord has never failed or forsaken us and yet we still worry and fear when we focus on our problems instead of our Provider.

We see Jesus wanted them to bring Him all they had.  Herein lies the key to having our needs met.  We must put our "not enough" into the hands of Jesus.  When we do, we will see it multiplied into more than enough! I'll leave you with a song of course: "What's that you have in your hand?  I can use it, if you're willing to lose it.  Take the little you have and make it grand.  I am El Shaddai and I'll more than supply your needs."

Discussion Questions

1. What is your first response when faced with insufficiency?
2. Right now, are you fearful or faithful?
3. Think of a time(s) when God has provided for you in the past.
What steps will you take today to put your needs and all you have into the hands of Jesus?

Thank You for your awesome and powerful words. This concept is something we all want to keep at the forefront of our thoughts but as you said fear creeps in, but I am grateful that God is ever present, all knowing and that he is in control.
