LOST BUT THEN FOUND

Key Verse

In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away! (Luke 15:7 NLT)

Central Truth

I believe this verse explains how important and meaningful it is to God  to ask Him for forgiveness when someone may commit a sin. That the sinner is willing to come to God on their own terms and repent rather than those who have stayed with Him always.

Reflections

I believe that this verse has taught me about how you can turn to God for absolutely anything. Ask for advice, guidance, or ask for forgiveness. And I believe that God is proud and happy with us when we come to Him on our own terms. That by doing this He knows how much we love Him. I know that I have come to God for many things such as asking for forgiveness, advice, and guidance whether it be about school or home life. I can honestly say that I never used to come to God for help. I never really believed He was there for me.

I have been through so much pain, depression, and loss that I felt I could not handle it myself. I had felt alone and trapped in a world of sadness. where I wished I could be happy. I felt as if I was alone: a small kid in a huge adult world where I needed someone to guide me down a safe path, to hold my hand and tell me all that I was going through was going to end.

It took me a while to come to God and ask for forgiveness and ask Him to guide me. I did not know what His response would be. I felt as if I had lost my faith in Him when He was there all along. I just needed a boost of confidence and light to help me through it. God helped me through it and now I know that I can come to Him whenever I feel I need Him. I now know I can conquer and go through just about anything with God by my side.

Discussion Questions

1. Do you feel you can come to God for anything?

2. Has there ever been a time where you are scared to come to God?

3. How often do you ask God for forgiveness?
