BE P.O.I.S.E.D (PROVE OURSELVES IN SMALL THINGS EVERY DAY)

Key Verse
If you are faithful in little things you will be faihful in larger ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilties. And if you are untrustworthy about worldy wealth, who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? (Luke 16:10-11 NLT)

Central Truth

If we are ever expecting God to entrust us with great things, we must prove ourselves in the smaller things first.

Reflections

Within this passage of scripture of Luke 16 we find a foundational biblical principle. It speaks of the necessity of proving ourselves in small matters so that later we can later be entrusted with greater ones. More specifically we are told about the importance of how we handle money. Worldly wealth is sometimes God's testing ground. Throughout the Bible we read that God had tested many a person in simple things before He was ready to trust them in greater things. Solomon with all his great wealth did not start off with great riches, he had to prove himself worthy in smaller things first. Even Abraham did not start out with cattle on a thousand hills. Today, God still will place us a valley of decision, to serve Him or mammon (money). We all at some point in our lives will be shown where our allegiance really lies.

Our own church, Trinity, is a perfect example of the fruit that is possible when you are faithful in finances. It started with very humble beginnings then over time it grew and grew and even recently paid off it's mortgage! Now the church has the potential to do great things ! Maybe above and beyond what they ever thought. On the walls of our sanctuary there are flags denoting every country we have ever helped. What a magnificent harvest! So we should be prepared. Prepared to be POISED. Prove Ourselves In Small things Every Day

Discussion Questions

1. Name something that you wish God would one day put you in charge of.

2. Share something that you personally know of that had very small beginnings that eventually rose to greatness.

3. Are you willing to allow God to take you down a path to prepare you for something that has yet to be revealed?

I appreciate the challenge and opportunity given in Mike's message and questions. God challenges us not to accomplish the average, but rather to bring into being the extraordinary, one moment at a time. Thanks, Mike, for challenging me to seize those opportunities given by God.
