Central Truth
Our faith in God promises us eternal life.
Reflections
The terms "faith" and "promise" can arouse our deepest vulnerabilities. It requires that we advance our belief in that which our five senses cannot validate.
When I have sought God's counsel for the decisions of my life, He has demonstrated His perfect love by delivering results that far exceed any expectation I might otherwise have established for myself. In building my relationship with God, I have come to understand that He will not steer me into any place or situation where He does not intend for me to be. This has advanced my trust in His authority over my life and my faith in His love for me.
When we seek His counsel and have faith in His authority over us, we can do so trusting His promise to guide us to where we should be at any given point in eternity.
God's loving promise for us is life on both sides of eternity. Eternity—forever and ever. It is overwhelming to grasp the reality that God so loves us that He will guide us and stand by us and protect us forever. Too, it is overwhelming to fathom a love so great that God willingly sacrificed His only Son to save us.
How very blessed we are to have faith that far exceeds the abilities of the five senses to discover that God's perfect loving promise never waivers!
Discussion Questions
1. Do you place trust in God to take authority over your life?2. Does Scripture indicate that God remains faithful to His promises?
3. Have you asked God for His counsel in your life, and if so, have you trusted His response?

. Yes I place my trust in God to take authority over my life. When He has the authority, the waves have to calm and the enemy has to be gone by His Word. I really never thought about His authority doing these things for me as much as I always thought about Him being the authority over me and my will. Thanks for wording your question that way. 2. There are so many instances in scripture that prove God is faithful to His promises. He promised to make a nation of Isaac, and He did. He promised to bless all of humanity through Israel, and He did. He sent Jesus Christ from the Israeli tribe of Judah, and blessed all of humanity for all of time with His sinless, perfect sacrifice that freed us all from sin. He also promised to restore Israel and make them a nation once again, and He had Brittan set them up once again in the land of Israel after WWII. Yes He keeps all His promises! 3. Yes I have asked the Lord's counsel and have found His counsel amazing. I remember asking God to guide me on the choice of a car many years back, and when I took the car out for a test drive, I had 3 experts give me advise about that particular car. When I dropped my dry cleaning off, a guy parked behind me and upon seeing my 'For Sale' sign in the car window, looked it over and told me he was a car buyer for a used car lot and he could tell that the passenger's side had been bashed in in an accident. When I stopped to top off the gas, the gas station attendant volunteered that this particular car was hard to change the oil on. And the last person I saw before I returned the car to the used car dealer told me not to pay more than x amount for that year and model. I decided not to buy the car. Praise God!
