Reflections
Questions, questions, questions, we all deal with them. Is your work or school going well? Is it challenging, satisfying, overwhelming? Do you consider yourself a success at this point of your life? Now think about your relationships. Are you where you want to be with your family? Or your friendships? How are your finances?Chances are that if you are like the normal person, some of these areas can get out of whack from time to time. Let me ask one more question that trumps every question above. This question really matters above all of the things that we seem to make matter in this world. How is your relationship with Jesus Christ? It's so easy as Christians in our busy, hurried, and driven world to get so caught up in out own agendas instead of HIS agenda. His agenda is for us to understand that He is the only one that truly satisfies; the only one that we are to be connected too- for without Him we can't do anything.
I remember when I was a intern a few years ago at the church that I grew up in during my junior year at college. My pastor gave me a little nugget of advice that still sticks with me this day. "Gavin be more concerned about building a great soul rather than a great ministry." You see as a minister I too need to be careful of just doing the work of God without God doing a great work inside in me.
It's so easy to forget the main reason that we are put here on this earth: to bring glory to God and to adore him in every aspect of life. It's easy to let the life, schedules, tasks, and others, cloud our attention, but we must remember to keep first things first.
Discussion Questions
1. How would you describe your relationship with Christ today?2.. What are things that you do to keep your walk with God vibrant?
3. Have you established a certain "quiet place" in your life to be with God?
4. Do you need to make a renewed priority to keep God first in your life?
