NOW COME AND HAVE SOME BREAKFAST!
- Key Verse
- "Now come and have some breakfast!" Jesus said. None of the disciples dared to ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord. Then Jesus served them the bread and the fish. (John 21:12-13, NLT)

Central Truth
No matter where we find our faith in God—on the heights of close abiding trust in God and his power or in the depths of doubt and second guesses—Jesus comes, meets us, and serves up something fresh to show us just who He is.
Reflections
Jesus' disciples just could not figure out what was going on. The last few years of walking with Jesus were amazing. But the last few weeks must have left them without words to describe the doubt, fear, amazement, and other emotions they all felt. Now the future expectations were no longer clear. Now the climate was right for clouds of doubt to arise in the minds of these men who thought they had laid all down for Jesus. Like most of us when faced with uncertainty, these disciples gravitated to the safety of the familiar. Peter said, "I'm going fishing" and a number of them joined him. [But they were unsuccessful, much like they were in Luke 5--Jarl Hulbert.]It was not until Jesus called out to them from the shore that they were successful...amazingly successful (it was note worthy enough that the Bible actually numbered the fish count - 153)! After their night's work, these men most probably were hungry. But this morning they would not eat from the fruits of their labor. Their meal came from Jesus himself. Where did he get the fish He served them? Who knows. But the disciples knew their meal came from their master who was raised from the dead. You see, the disciples were no longer fishermen, but as Jesus said, they were "fishers of men." Their calling was different now. Their work was different and their provision was now going to come from the Lord - alone!
Like the disciples, we are no longer our own. You may have a dream or even a calling on your life from the Lord. You may be trying to find out what you are supposed to do next, but you are no longer sure of anything. You might even feel like just going back to what you "know" how to do. Perhaps what you used to do so well, just isn't successful anymore. Well, be encouraged with Jesus' words..."come my child and have some breakfast." He will make provision for your body and for your vision. He really will work out His plans for you!
