Central Truth
When we first come to know Christ we are not entering into a relationship with just Him, but all those that also know Him. God calls us to be joined with one another to serve Him as one people. We should strive to stand together for one purpose.
Reflections
I love to read this chapter and think of the others that I know who love Jesus. I think of the struggles that they face and the burdens they carry. I may not be able to carry some of their troubles nor fix them, but I can certainly let them know that I care, pray, and believe that God can move on their behalf. Paul states that he is so encouraged and thankful to know that they pray for him while he faces difficult times. He knows that in the spiritual world, he has many friends on his side. He knows that he is not forgotten. This is so important as we walk in this world today.
There have been many difficult seasons in my life that I was able to persevere because of my Jesus, but also the shoulders of my friends in the church that said, I'm right here with you!
I believe that this kind of fellowship is one that we grow in. It is not natural for us to connect with others in a spiritual commitment and unity; to pray and fast for one another so that God moves in our lives. In verse 9-11, Paul states that it is a love that will be rich and full as we receive and grow in God's knowledge. Then we can discern how to walk in healthy relationship with one another and to live a righteous and pure life.
Sometimes as Christians we think we are helping someone, but as we grow in the Lord and see things through His eyes, we find that His ways are not like ours! Verse 11 states that the fruit of a right relationship with Jesus and others will produce righteousness that gives glory to God.
So no matter the season you are in or the results of that season, know that God desires for you to stand strong, firm, and of one spirit and heart which is of Him so that He can have the Glory in your life! You are not alone.
