GOOD NEWS!! WE'RE HIRING!!!

Key Verse
He said to his disciples, 'The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.' (Matthew 9:37-38, NLT)

Central Truth

Procrastination can be costly especially when eternity is at stake. We have heard this before and it is the truth. We need to work while we can because we do not know when the door of opportunity will close. Today is the day of salvation. Preach it, before it's too late.

Reflections

On YouTube I found one of the greatest Christian songs. It says, "We have abandoned it all, for the sake of the Call; no other reason at all, for the sake of the Call. Wholly devoted, to live and to die, for the sake of the Call."

Missionaries came to my mind. Those whose lives were portrayed at my church in a Missions Week activity called The Eurasia Experience. An interactive presentation of how Christians live in a region known as the "10-40 window', was a thought-provoking display of the dangers missionaries face daily. They have abandoned the comfort of their homes, perhaps have given up good jobs, and maybe even have betrayed their loved ones, in order to preach the gospel to the most unreached peoples of the world. The thought provoking scenes were vignettes of what God is doing through them in that region. There's only one word for it: "Amazing"!

As I was sitting in the sanctuary in the middle of the service, I thought to myself, "If God calls us to these places, how many among us will actually say 'yes?'" I know it is easy to give and pray: two things that are also essential in missions. But to actually 'go,' is the hardest thing for people to do. Many times when God tugs at our heart, we say, "What about my career?," or "It's too dangerous for my wife and kids," or "Do you really want me to leave my job, Lord?", or "Not right now, Lord. I have to settle something first."

Our excuses are almost valid, but think about Jesus. He knew the purpose for His being sent to earth. He knew He had to suffer and die on Calvary's cross in order to save you and me from eternal damnation. Thank God, He did not change His mind, or question God. He said, 'Not My will, Father, but Thy will be done.'

The enemy is busy doing what he can to kill, steal, and destroy people's lives. Are we just going to look the other way? When He calls can we say "I'm available, Lord, send me."?
